GREE to Expand Global Gaming Platform with HTML5 Web Apps- Payment Flexibility, 14 Languages Available to Users Worldwide -

Tokyo, Japan - November 14, 2012 - GREE today announced that it will expand its HTML5 compatibility for GREE Platform, the leading mobile social gaming platform reaching over 169 countries and regions. The enhanced HTML5 functionality will be rolled out globally in open beta this November. This adds to the existing GREE Platform smartphone native app functionality, making it possible for game developers to distribute games as web apps to users around the world.

GREE is introducing the expanded functionality in response to the evolution of the smartphone industry and its related businesses. Global smartphone shipments are forecast to exceed 1.9 billion devices by 2017*, and as a result, carriers around the world are strengthening their mobile networks to enhance connection speed and reliability.

The emergence of new web app development environments such as HTML5 enable true cross platform development of web apps compatible across multiple smartphone operating systems. By expanding the compatibility of GREE Platform, developers will be able to choose the development method that best suits their technical capabilities and the characteristics of each game, providing them with a cost-effective means of distributing games worldwide.

To coincide with the expanded HTML5 compatibility, GREE will also introduce web browser optimized functionality for the GREE social networking service, which is now available in 14 languages. GREE also plans to launch its own in-house social games as web apps. New payment options will also become available to users around the world, with GREE accepting payment via PayPal™, the world’s largest online payment service; credit card payments by VISA, MasterCard, JCB and American Express; and payment from up to 166 mobile carriers.

GREE provides a rich lineup of social games and will continue to expand its content offering in its pursuit of developing the world's leading mobile social games ecosystem.
