EA's First Social Mobile Game Launches in Japan, on GREE, One of the Largest Japanese SNS- Minna no SimCity Now Available as Freemium Game on Social Networking Service GREE -

TOKYO, Japan - March 3, 2011 - SimCity™, EA's popular city-builder game franchise, is now available on the GREE social mobile gaming platform in Japan. Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and GREE, Inc. today announced that Minna no SimCity™ is now playable on GREE, one of the largest Japanese SNS for feature phone. Today's announcement also signals EA's first move into Japan's social mobile network market.

Co-developed between EA Mobile™ and Playfish™, Minna no SimCity allows players to build their small town into a thriving metropolis while employing social features such as sending a "Wink" to friends for rewards and playing co-op social missions with friends.

"EA Mobile and Playfish combine their expertise entering the mobile social network gaming market in Japan with Minna no SimCity," said Franck Villet, GM of Asia Pacific for EA Mobile. "We are bringing the most anticipated city-builder franchise to Japan. This easy-to-play game is loaded with appealing social features delivering an enjoyable experience for every player."

SimCity is the most well-known city builder franchise in Japan, and Minna no SimCity builds on the franchise to engage players and encourage interaction over the GREE mobile platform. Players build and grow a dream city while increasing population and earning money. Over 100 unique buildings provide options for a rich, thriving metropolis. The city's approval rating can be raised by promoting industry and managing disasters. Players collect building blueprints through a GPS check-in or by trading with friends. By inviting other player cities as a "sister city," city builders will be able to gift buildings and trade even more blueprints. Through co-op missions, players team up with friends to build city projects and collaboratively reach milestones. New buildings and plans will be available monthly to download and play. Additional city elements such as landmark plans will also be available on an ongoing basis.
