GREE to Adopt Adobe AIR to Enable 3D Games on its Platform- GREE SDK and AIR 3 Integration to Benefit GREE Development Partners Worldwide -
BURLINGAME, Calif - September 21, 2011 - GREE, a leading mobile social gaming platform worldwide, today announced that it became one of the first companies to adopt the latest version of Adobe® Flash® Player and Adobe AIR®. The Adobe AIR 3, the newest version of Adobe's cross-platform runtime also announced today, offers new features which will enable development partners (GREE Partners) to bring next generation games to the Web worldwide.
Starting this fall, GREE will formally begin offering the Adobe AIR 3 plugin to GREE Partners. This will allow GREE Partners to easily embed the functions provided by the GREE SDK*1 into AIR-based applications. Additionally, it will allow Web and Flash developers to easily create applications across multi-platforms, including Android™ and iOS, while leveraging existing code and known tools.
The Adobe AIR 3 offers new features and capabilities including Captive Runtime, which allows developers to distribute the AIR runtime as part of the application. Adobe AIR 3 also supports native extensions that let developers tap into native device capabilities. Adobe AIR 3 supports Android, BlackBerry® Tablet OS, iOS and TVs.
Adobe expects many application developers to use Adobe AIR 3 by supporting and encouraging GREE Partners to utilize Adobe AIR 3 when they develop mobile social applications.
GREE plans to start providing applications for smartphones developed with Adobe AIR 3 this fall. The company continues to support application development using AIR to facilitate an environment that reduces GREE Partners' application development costs and efforts worldwide.
"We are pleased to work with Adobe to provide advanced tools to our partners, enabling them to enhance the quality of their content with Adobe Air, and easily develop across platforms." said Yoshikazu Tanaka, Founder and CEO of GREE.
